While CapCut initially offered Auto Reframe as a free preview or limited-time trial to introduce users to its capabilities, it has since been moved to the CapCut Pro (premium) tier as part of ongoing product development and resource investment in AI technologies.
You're now prompted to pay because Auto Reframe is no longer available in the free plan—it requires an active CapCut Pro subscription to use. Below is how this applies across each platform:
CapCut Online
- Step 1: You select a video clip and click "Adjust" → "Auto Reframe" in the toolbar.
- Step 2: If you're not a Pro subscriber, a modal appears: "Auto Reframe is a CapCut Pro feature. Subscribe to unlock smart framing for all your videos."

- Step 1: In the editor, right-click a clip or go to "Video" → "Auto Reframe".
- Step 2: If your account isn't Pro, the option may appear grayed out—or trigger a prompt upon selection:"This AI tool requires CapCut Pro. Join now to access intelligent reframing."
- Step 3: Unlike basic crop/zoom tools (which remain free), Auto Reframe uses real-time AI object tracking, which consumes cloud-based processing resources—hence its placement behind the Pro paywall.
- Step 4: After subscribing and syncing your account, the feature becomes fully functional across all projects.
