Why This Happens

Unsupported Formats

CapCut supports a range of common video and image formats, but some formats or encodings are not supported at the moment. Even if your file is labeled as MP4 or JPG, its actual format may not match the extension, and therefore cannot be recognized by CapCut.

Changing the File Extension Doesn't Work

Simply renaming a file's extension (for example, changing another format to ".mp4" or ".jpg") does not change the actual file format. As a result, the file may still fail to import into CapCut.

How to Fix This Issue

To resolve the problem, we recommend the following steps:

    1
  1. Use a trusted third-party transcoding or conversion tool.
  2. 2
  3. Convert the video or image into a format supported by CapCut.
  4. 3
  5. Import the converted file into your project and continue editing.
