How to Determine If the Producer's Template Has Been Converted to a Paid Template?

CapCut allows creators to publish templates that can later be designated as "Pro" (paid) templates, either by the creator themselves (via CapCut Pro monetization programs) or automatically by the platform based on popularity and quality.

CapCut allows creators to publish templates that can later be designated as "Pro" (paid) templates, either by the creator themselves (via CapCut Pro monetization programs) or automatically by the platform based on popularity and quality. If you're the original producer—or a user trying to use a template—you can verify its paid status through clear visual indicators and export behavior. Below is a step-by-step guide across all three platforms where this feature is available.

📍 Tip: All three platforms—Mobile App, Desktop, and Web—support viewing and using Pro (paid) templates, and each provides consistent ways to identify them.

CapCut Online

How to Confirm the Template Status Online:

    1
  1. Access your template library
  • Log in and navigate to "My Templates".
    2
  1. Identify the "Pro" indicator
  • Paid templates display a purple "Pro" badge on the thumbnail.
  • On the template detail page, you'll also see: "This is a Pro template. CapCut Pro required for watermark-free export."
    3
  1. Test the export flow
  • Open the template in the editor, make any edit (even none), and click Export.
  • The export panel will show:
    • "Paid Template" label,
    • A watermark will still appear when using this template here.
  • Again, this applies to the original creator too—ownership doesn't grant free export once monetized.
    4
  1. Creator tools (web-specific)
  • In the template management page, look for tags like "Monetized", "In Pro Library", or "Earning Status: Active".

CapCut Desktop (Windows / macOS)

How to Identify a Paid Template:

    1
  1. Browse or open the template
    1. In the launcher or template gallery, find your template under "My Templates" or search by name.
  2. 2
  3. Check for the "Pro" label
    1. A purple "Pro" badge appears directly on the template card—same design as mobile.
    2. Hovering over the template may also show a tooltip: "Pro Template – Requires subscription to export."
  4. 3
  5. Observe export behavior
    1. After editing with the template, click Export.
    2. If it's a paid template, you'll see:
      •   ▪️ A lock icon next to resolution options,
      •   ▪️ A message: "Upgrade to CapCut Pro to export this video without watermark."
    3. Even the original creator cannot bypass this unless they have an active Pro subscription.

CapCut Mobile App (iOS / Android)

How to Check If Your Template Is Now a Paid/Pro Template:

Open your published template

  • Go to Profile → "My Templates".
  • Tap the template in question.

Look for the "Pro" badge

  • A purple "Pro" icon appears in the top-left or bottom-right corner of the template thumbnail.
  • This badge is visible both in your personal library and when others view it.

Check during editing or export

  • When you (or anyone) apply the template and proceed to Export, a notice will appear:

"This is a Pro template. Exporting requires CapCut Pro."

📍 Even as the creator, if your template is enrolled in the Pro program, you must have an active CapCut Pro subscription to export videos using it without watermarks.

Review monetization status (for creators)

  • In "My Templates", tap the three-dot menu on your template.
  • If it shows "Monetized" or "Part of Pro Library", it has been converted to a paid template.
📍 Note: Conversion to a Pro template can happen automatically via CapCut's "Template Promotion Program" if your template gains high engagement.

⚠️ Important Notes for Creators

  • You can still edit your own Pro template, but exporting without a watermark requires an active CapCut Pro subscription—even for the original author.
  • Conversion to a paid template may be manual (you opt in via Creator Studio) or automatic(via CapCut's algorithm for trending templates).

📍 If you believe your template was converted without consent, contact CapCut Support through Help & Feedback with the template ID for review.

📍 You can usually opt out of monetization via Creator Dashboard (mobile: Me → Creator Tools → Template Monetization).
