Some AI effects or templates you previously used may no longer appear in CapCut. This is often due to content updates, licensing changes, or platform-specific optimizations—not an error on your end. Here's what's happening across each platform:
CapCut Online
- AI effects and templates are cloud-based and updated frequently.
- Older or low-engagement effects may be removed without notice to streamline the library.
- Templates tied to seasonal campaigns (e.g., holidays, events) are often temporary and disappear after the campaign ends.
CapCut Desktop (Windows/macOS)
- The desktop app syncs with the same cloud library as Web.
- If an effect was removed from CapCut's servers, it will no longer appear in your "Recently Used" or search results—even if you used it before.
- Locally saved project files still render the effect correctly, but you can't reapply it to new clips if it's been delisted.
CapCut Mobile App (iOS/Android)
- Most AI effects (e.g., "AI Portrait," "Magic Brush") and trending templates are delivered via server-side updates.
- Removed effects vanish from all menus, including "My Favorites" or "History."
- App updates may also replace old effects with improved versions, making the originals inaccessible.
What You Can Do:
- Use "Save Template" (on supported projects) to keep a reusable copy of your favorite designs.
- Export final videos promptly—rendered effects stay intact even if the source effect is later removed.
- Check the "New" or "Trending" tabs regularly for fresh AI tools based on user feedback.
