In CapCut, a "remake" refers to a video created using a public template from the CapCut community. By default, when you finish editing such a project and export it, CapCut may prompt you to publish your video as a remake—which links it back to the original template and makes it visible in the template's "Remakes" section.
If you do not want to share your video as a remake, you can easily opt out during export. This option is available on Mobile and Web, but not on Desktop, because the Desktop app does not support direct publishing to CapCut's platform at all.
Below are platform-specific instructions.
CapCut Online
Steps to Avoid Posting a Remake:
- 1
- Once your project is ready, click the "Export" button in the top-right corner. 2
- In the export settings panel, find the checkbox or toggle labeled "Post to CapCut", "Publish as remake", or similar. 3
- Uncheck or disable this option. 4
- Click "Export" or "Download".
- 5
- The video will download directly to your computer without being published or associated with the original template.
📍 Tip: CapCut Web often highlights this option more prominently when you're using a trending template—so always review export settings before confirming.
CapCut Desktop (Windows / macOS)
The Desktop version does not support posting remakes at all.
- CapCut Desktop is designed purely for offline editing.
- There is no built-in option to publish to CapCut's platform, so every exported video is automatically saved only to your local drive.
- Therefore, you don't need to take any action—your video will never be posted as a remake by default.
📍 Note: If you later upload the exported file manually via mobile or web, that's a separate action and not considered an automatic "remake" post.
CapCut Mobile App (iOS / Android)
Steps to Avoid Posting a Remake:
- 1
- After finishing your edit, tap "Export" (top-right corner). 2
- On the export screen, look for the toggle labeled "Post on CapCut" or "Share as a remake" (usually just below video resolution settings). 3
- Turn OFF this toggle (it should appear gray/unchecked). 4
- Tap "Export" again to save the video only to your device.
- 5
- Your video will be saved locally and will NOT appear as a remake on the template's page or your CapCut profile.
📍 Note: Even if you've used a template, disabling this option ensures your video remains private and unlinked from the community feed.
Summary
- On Mobile and Web, simply disable the "Post on CapCut" / "Publish as remake" toggle during export.
- On Desktop, no action is needed—remakes cannot be posted from this platform.
By following these steps, you retain full control over whether your edited video appears publicly as a remake or stays private on your device.
