There has been much speculation among fans of the Transformers franchise about whether Peter Cullen has retired his voice as Optimus Prime. Cullen has been the voice of the iconic Autobot leader since the original animated series in the 1980s, and has continued to voice the character in various Transformers movies and TV shows over the years.
However, recent comments from Cullen himself suggest that he may be stepping away from the role. In an interview with Collider, Cullen was asked about his future as Optimus Prime, to which he responded:
“I think I’m done. I’ve been doing this for 35 years, and I think that’s a pretty good stretch. I’m not saying goodbye to the character completely, but professionally, I think I’m done.”
These comments have understandably caused concern among fans, who have grown to love Cullen’s portrayal of Optimus Prime over the years. However, it’s worth noting that Cullen has not officially announced his retirement from the role, and there is always the possibility that he could return in the future.
In the meantime, fans can continue to enjoy Cullen’s performances as Optimus Prime in the many Transformers movies and TV shows that he has lent his voice to over the years. And who knows - maybe we haven’t heard the last of him yet.
